Plenty to Play for at Both Ends of the Table as Le Havre Meet Dijon in Ligue 2
2476

We have reached the final day of fixtures in the French Ligue 2 and there is so much to play for at both ends of the table. Arguably the biggest game of the day takes place at the Stade Océane as Le Havre meet Dijon.

The hosts begin the final round of matches top of the table on 72 points but needing a point to ensure promotion while the visitors are in 18th place and need at least a point and other results to go in their favour to avoid relegation.

Le Havre come into the match having picked up a point in a 1-1 draw at 4th place Bastia last weekend in Ligue 2. It was a decent result for Le Havre, especially as they went 1-0 down shortly after half-time but came back to score the equaliser in the 88th minute.

The draw at Bastia means Le Havre have failed to win any of their 3 most recent fixtures in Ligue 2. There have been defeats at Annency and at home against Velanciennes, both of which were disappointing defeats against teams in the bottom half of the table.

It is fair to say Le Havre have stuttered over the line in terms of winning promotion this season. They have recorded just a single win from their last 5 home league fixtures but remain difficult to beat on home soil.

Trends show Le Havre are undefeated in 17 of their last 18 home Ligue 2 games.

Dijon travel to the Stade Océane on the back of a 1-1 home draw with Paris FC. Dijon FC took the lead early in the second half but it did not take long for FC Paris to score the equaliser, finding the back of net just 9 minutes later.

The draw with Paris FC means Dijon are undefeated in their 8 most recent Ligue 2 fixtures and they have given themselves a chance of avoiding relegation on the final day. There have been wins over Rodez and Amiens at home plus Sochaux and Nimes away.

Away form in Ligue 2 shows Dijon are undefeated in their last 4 games. In addition to the wins at Sochaux and Nimes, there have been draws with Quevilly Rouen and Annency.

Team news and Le Havre continue without Defender Abdelwahed Wahib who has a serious knee injury. Every other player should be available for the hosts.

Dijon make the trip without injured goalkeeper Thomas Roche. Xande Silva may start having been on the bench last weekend.

This is a massive match and both teams know they need to get something from the game. Dijon have been good in recent weeks and despite their position in the relegation zone, this is not going to be easy for Le Havre.

The longer the game progresses without a goal, the more nervous the atmosphere will become but it could be Le Havre who just come out on top, winning by a single goal.
