Villa and Brighton Set to Draw in a Top 7 Battle on the Final Day
3618

Aston Villa and Brighton & Hove Albion are set to clash in a massive battle for a spot in the European ranks this weekend with the Seagulls having now secured a spot in the top six this season just as Villa aim for seventh.

Brighton secured a spot in the Europa League last time out by defeating Southampton 3-1 and drawing with the champions Manchester City.

It now means that they cannot be caught by Villa in seventh and drop into the Europa Conference League, while Brighton cannot move into fifth above Liverpool.

Nevertheless, a spot in the Europa League is secured regardless of what happens on the final day of the season because of Manchester United and Manchester City's success in the domestic cups.

Aston Villa, however, will still be looking over their shoulder at Tottenham Hotspur who head into this game with just a one point gap on the Lilywhites. Spurs will meet with Leeds United on the final day of the season.

Villa have now put together 13 losses and 17 wins this season and as long as they can match the result of Spurs, they will be in the Europa Conference League for next season.

Unai Emery’s men did defeat Tottenham two weeks back in a 2-1 win to move into seventh and above them in the table.

Villa did draw 1-1 with Liverpool at Anfield last time out, although they have lost to Wolverhampton Wanderers and Manchester United in the past five games as well. This also means just three goals scored in the past five outings.

Philippe Coutinho is still out for the season and will return at some stage in preseason. Jed Steer is also ruled out for the final game of the campaign, although Diego Carlos and Calum Chambers could return in this game.

Brighton's injuries have eased in recent weeks with the likes of Evan Ferguson returning, but they still have many players ruled out. Adam Lallana, Jeremy Sarmiento and Solly March are all ruled out and won't play again this season.

Tariq Lamptey won't be fit either it seems, and Jason Steele will remain in goal with Robert Sanchez ruled out.

Roberto De Zerbi may also field a few more youth names in this one knowing that his team cannot move up or down in the league table.

Forebet now predicts a draw in this game and for the match to see under 2.5 goals.
