Man City to cap off title-winning campaign with victory at Brentford

Manchester City will be looking to finish the Premier League season on a high when they face Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium on Sunday.

Sitting eight points clear of second-placed Arsenal ahead of the final round of fixtures, Pep Guardiola’s side men already secured a fifth Premier League title in six years.

As for Brentford, they find themselves ninth and could sneak into the top seven if they beat Man City and results elsewhere go their way.

The Bees have enjoyed an impressive second season in the Premier League, recording 14 wins, 14 draws and nine losses to cement a top-half finish.

Although no team has picked up more draws than Brentford this term, only Man City, Arsenal and Newcastle United have suffered fewer defeats.

Thomas Frank’s side have been especially strong on home soil this season, losing just two of their 18 league matches at the Gtech Community Stadium.

Having won each of their last two games – and four of their previous five – the Bees will fancy their chances of frustrating the champions on Sunday.

Manchester City, on the other hand, have lost just four of their 37 league outings this term, picking up 28 wins and five draws along the way.

Not only are Guardiola’s men the top scorers in the division (94), but they also boast the best defensive record (32).

The Cityzens head into Sunday’s clash on a mammoth 25-game unbeaten streak across all competitions, having notched 20 victories since losing to Tottenham Hotspur back in February.

City racked up 12 successive league wins before drawing 1-1 with Brighton & Hove Albion on Wednesday, highlighting their relentless last-season surge.

Head-to-head: It is worth remembering that Brentford claimed a shock 2-1 victory over Manchester City in the reverse fixture back in November.

That said, Guardiola’s men did the double over the Bees last season, winning 1-0 in London before winning 2-0 at the Etihad Stadium.

Team news: Brentford striker Ivan Toney is suspended, while Pontus Jansson, Keane Lewis-Potter and Christian Norgaard will miss the final game due to injury.

On the flip side, Manchester City look set to be without Nathan Ake and Phil Foden this weekend as they continue to recover from knocks.

Regardless of Brentford’s strong home record, in-form Man City look destined to finish the season with a routine victory.

Forebet predicts that Manchester City will score over 1.5 goals en route to dispatching Brentford, while the visitors are also expected to keep a clean sheet.
