Roma aiming for fourth straight Serie A win over Salernitana

Roma’s recent Serie A form has them holding onto a top-six place. The Giallorossi are winless in five straight matches, and their lack of winning form can be blamed on the Europa League. Coach Jose Mourinho must do something to turn around Roma’s flagging form, however.

On Monday night, Roma will host Salernitana at the Stadio Olimpico. Salernitana are 15th in the standings and eight points above the relegation zone with three games to play. The Granata are unbeaten in five of their last six fixtures.

Last weekend, Salernitana defeated Atalanta 1-0, giving Roma some help in their quest to finish in the top six. A win or draw could seal Salernitana’s safety for next season. The Granata could also be safe if Hellas Verona lose this weekend.

Roma and Salernitana played three times previously dating back to last season. The Giallorossi won all three previous fixtures by a combined score of 7-1. Earlier this season, Roma claimed a 1-0 win thanks to a first-half Bryan Cristante goal.

Depending on Atalanta’s result at the weekend, Roma could kick off on Monday against Salernitana outside the top six. Roma only took six points from their last six matches. The goals did not flow for Roma, as they scored just six times and conceded seven goals.

Mourinho will hope playing at home benefits the Giallorossi. Roma have a record of 10W-2D-5L at home and a goal difference of +12.

Salernitana enjoyed far better form across the last six matches. The Granata tallied nine points from 18 possible, scoring 10 goals and conceding seven times.

The road has been a hard place for Salernitana to win this season. They won just two away matches from 17 possible games. A total of 14 points were taken by Salernitana on the road. Each of their last six road games ended without a win.

Mourinho is unlikely to have full-back Rick Karsdorp available due to injury. Defender Diego Llorente is also unlikely to make the squad.

Salernitana coach Paulo Sousa will be without defender Federico Fazio due to an ankle injury. Forward Diego Valencia is a doubt following a muscle problem. Midfielder Domen Crnigoj could miss the game with a calf strain.

Roma will be coming off a Thursday night Europa League semifinal clash with Bayer Leverkusen in Germany. Regardless of the travel and the fatigue, the Giallorossi should defeat Salernitana for a fourth straight game.

The fixture should finish in Roma’s favour 2-0.
