Southampton Set to be Relegated With a Loss to Fulham

Southampton could be relegated from the Premier League this weekend in a meeting with Fulham at St. Mary's just as the London side look to keep up their fight for a spot in the top half of the table this season.

After 35 games, the Saints sit on 24 points and with a gap of eight points to make up on Everton in the safe spot of 17th.

This now means Southampton will be relegated if they fail to win this game with just nine left to play for.

To survive, Southampton must win all their remaining games and hope that Everton lose all of their matches too. In reality, it’s a near impossible feat to achieve.

In fact, the club stepped one foot into the Championship a few weeks back when they played at home to Bournemouth.

They lost that crucial battle with Cherries, and they've since had very little hope of surviving.

Southampton also lost 4-3 to fellow strugglers Nottingham Forest last time out to throw them deeper into trouble.

As for Fulham, their aim is to finish in the top 10 this season as they sit six clear of their west London rivals in what is the club's first chance to finish above Chelsea in Premier League history.

Chelsea do have a game in hand to play in two weeks, so it is not all done and dusted for Fulham.

The Cottagers did hammer Leicester City this past Monday as Willian netted a brace before Tom Cairney did the same alongside a goal from Carlos Vinicius in the 5-3 win at Craven Cottage.

Andreas Pereira and Tim Ream are out for the season for Fulham but the long-awaited return of Aleksandar Mitrovic after his eight-game ban will mean he comes back in.

Layvin Kurzawa has likely already played his last game for Fulham before heading back to Paris Saint-Germain with a knee injury.

Romain Perraud is out for a while and won't return until preseason, while Mohamed Salisu is also out of this one. Valentino Livramento remains out until August and Juan Larios will face a fitness test towards the end of the season. Armel Bella-Kotchap is nearing a comeback.

Forebet predicts a win here for Fulham and for the game to see under 2.5 goals in a game that will see Southampton’s long time in the Premier League come to an end if other results also go against them.
