Can Liverpool continue top-four push with win over Leicester City?
7052

Liverpool were counted out of the Premier League top-four race just a month ago. However, an eight-match unbeaten streak, and six consecutive wins, have Liverpool just three points off third-place Newcastle and one point off fourth-place Manchester United.

Just when Premier League fans thought the top-four race was over, Liverpool got themselves back into it. On Monday night, Liverpool will travel to the King Power Stadium to play 18th-place Leicester City.

Playing against a relegation-threatened team could be just the thing Liverpool need to continue winning. The Reds will have the disadvantage of playing the Foxes on Monday night, more than 48 hours after Newcastle and Manchester United play.

Leicester City are two points from safety ahead of Liverpool’s arrival. The Foxes are winless in three straight games and only took four points from their last 18 points on offer. Leicester fell 5-3 to Fulham at Craven Cottage a week ago.

Liverpool, on the other hand, are top of the Premier League form table. The Reds took 18 points from the last 18 points on offer. Seventeen goals were scored by the Reds and just seven were conceded. Alisson Becker kept back-to-back clean sheets, with 1-0 wins over Fulham and Brentford.

If there is a glimmer of hope for Leicester City, it is Liverpool's awful away record. Liverpool have a 5W-4D-8L record away from Anfield, conceding 26 goals and scoring 22. The bad news for Leicester City is that Liverpool won their last two road fixtures.

Leicester have the league’s second-worst home points total, with 16. The Foxes are unbeaten in back-to-back home matches, however.

Jurgen Klopp will be without midfielder Thiago Alcantara due to a groin injury. He is likely finished for the season. Calvin Ramsay and Stefan Bajcetic are both ruled out for the remainder of the season with injuries.

Midfielder Naby Keita is a major doubt due to injury. He is set to leave Anfield at the end of the season. Roberto Firmino is nearing full fitness and could make the squad.

Dean Smith will be without defender James Justin due to a calf problem. Striker Kelechi Iheanacho is out with a groin injury. Defender Jannik Vestergaard is also set to miss the game with a leg injury. Full-back Ryan Bertrand could be fit but is in a race to recover from an injury.

Liverpool could find Leicester City difficult to break down. However, the Reds are in good form with six straight wins. Liverpool defeated Leicester 2-1 at Anfield thanks to two own goals from defender Wout Faes.

The Reds should win this game too, with the final score being 2-1.
