Champions Celtic to continue celebrations with victory over arch-rivals Rangers
5792

Fresh from clinching an 11th Scottish Premiership title in 12 years, Celtic face Old Firm rivals Rangers at Ibrox on Saturday afternoon.

Ange Postecoglou’s side wrapped up the title with a 2-0 victory at Hearts last weekend, opening up an unassailable 13-point lead at the summit of the table.

Although Rangers returned to winning ways with a 1-0 triumph over Aberdeen, they can no longer chase down their fierce foes at the top.

Remarkably, Celtic have suffered a solitary defeat in 34 league games this season, picking up 31 wins and two draws along the way.

Not only have the Bhoys scored a whopping 105 goals (3.09 goals per game), but they have also conceded just 25 (0.74 goals against per game).

Celtic head into Saturday’s clash on a 28-game unbeaten streak across all competitions, having notched 26 wins and two draws since losing to Real Madrid in the Champions League back in November.

With just one defeat coming in their previous 66 Scottish Premiership matches, Celtic will be confident of claiming the Old Firm bragging rights once again.

As for Rangers, they enter Saturday’s showdown on a run of three defeats in five matches, with two losses to Celtic coming during that period.

After suffering a 3-2 defeat to Celtic in the league, the Gers lost to Aberdeen before falling to their cross-city rivals in the Scottish Cup semi-finals last month.

Although Rangers have only lost four of their 34 league encounters this term, they have failed to keep pace with Celtic in every department.

Michael Beale’s men can take confidence from the fact that they have avoided defeat in each of their last 19 home league games, but Celtic will back themselves to end that run.

Head-to-head: Rangers have failed to win any of their last nine meetings with Celtic in all competitions, suffering six defeats in that time.

Celtic have won four of their previous six league matches against the Gers, with the Bhoys scoring 15 goals in the process.

Team news: Rangers currently have Steven Davis, Filip Helander, Tom Lawrence, Kemar Roofe and Nnamdi Ofoborh sidelined through injury.

Celtic look set to be without the injured duo of Liel Abada and James Forrest this weekend, while Alistair Johnston remains a doubt.

Regardless of Rangers’ impressive record on home soil, Celtic are expected to flex their title-winning muscles and humiliate their rivals once again.

Forebet predicts Rangers and Celtic will produce an entertaining clash at Ibrox, with the Bhoys scoring over 2.5 goals en route to victory.
