Liverpool seeking 12th home win of the season against Fulham
Liverpool vs Fulham - 03/05/2023

Fulham shocked Liverpool on the opening day of the season, pulling off a 2-2 draw at Craven Cottage.
The draw came just days after Liverpool defeated Manchester City for the Community Shield, raising expectations that the Reds could win the Premier League title.
The gloss came off Liverpool at Craven Cottage, however. The Reds had to come from behind twice just two nick a point in London. Fulham’s Aleksandar Mitrovic opened the scoring in the 32nd minute, exposing Liverpool’s poor defending, which has been a hallmark of the campaign.
Darwin Nunez came on as a second-half substitute and quickly put the Reds level at 1-1. Yet, Liverpool’s defending was shocking once more, as Mitrovic scored a penalty in the 72nd minute. Mohamed Salah was Liverpool’s saviour, scoring with nine minutes to play to rescue a point.
It feels like Liverpool haven’t recovered from the poor start to the season at Craven Cottage, although results are improving at the end of the campaign.
Liverpool are on a four-match winning streak and up to fifth in the standings. They are not guaranteed European football for next season and still have five matches left to play. Sunday’s ridiculous 4-3 win over Tottenham was a microcosm of the Reds’ season.
The Reds are seven points off the Champions League places. Newcastle United still have difficult games against Arsenal, Brighton, and Chelsea, which could leave the door open for Liverpool to qualify for the Champions League.
Fulham were battling for a European place but have slipped to 10th place in the standings. Four of Fulham’s last six matches in the Premier League finished as defeats.
They are on a two-match losing streak in the league thanks to defeats against Aston Villa and Manchester City.
Marco Silva’s team is now nine points off the final European place. The Cottagers are not in good form on the road, with three of their last four matches away from Craven Cottage ending in defeat.
Liverpool have not lost a home match since late October when Leeds pulled off a 2-1 smash-and-grab at Anfield. The Reds are on a two-match home win streak.
Thiago missed the match on Sunday against Spurs and is a doubt to make the squad for Wednesday. Calvin Ramsay remains sidelined, as does Naby Keita and Stefan Bajcetic.
Roberto Firmino is also unlikely to play due to an injury. Diogo Jota scored the winner against Spurs but is a slight doubt due to a back issue.
Mitrovic continues to serve a ban and will miss the match. Willian is racing to get fit for the match, while Tim Ream and Andreas Pereira are set to miss.
Liverpool are playing well in the league, with four straight wins and should continue their good form against Fulham.
