Choc des Olympiques rivals Lyon and Marseille will wrap up the weekend’s Ligue 1 action when they lock horns at Groupama Stadium on Sunday evening.

The two sides are separated by 14 points in the Ligue 1 table, with second-placed Marseille leading seventh-placed Lyon.

Can Marseille keep the pressure on table-topping Paris Saint-Germain? Or will Lyon notch a fourth successive victory to remain in the hunt for European football?

After clinching a famous 1-0 victory over PSG, Lyon defeated Rennes 3-1 before beating Toulouse 2-1 last time out.

Not only have Lyon won their last three league matches, but they have also avoided defeat in each of their previous seven.

Better still, OL have lost just one of their last 12 Ligue 1 encounters, picking up seven wins and four draws to remain within five points of the European places.

Lyon have been especially strong on home soil in recent times, losing just three of their previous 19 home league games.

As for Marseille, they are currently enjoying a six-game unbeaten run in Ligue 1, having recorded three wins and three draws since their last loss.

OM have also lost just two of their previous 19 league outings, securing 12 wins and five draws to remain within touching distance of PSG.

While Lyon have enjoyed plenty of success at home, Marseille have been almost unstoppable on their travels, winning eight and drawing two of their last 10 away league games.

Having suffered a solitary defeat in 15 away league matches this term – notching 11 wins in the process – Marseille will be difficult to beat on Sunday.

Head-to-head: Having both won two of the last six league meetings between the teams, Lyon and Marseille are expected to play out a close-fought battle this time around.

It is also worth noting that four of the previous six meetings in all competitions have produced under 2.5 goals, so we should see a low-scoring encounter on Sunday.

Team news: Lyon look set to be without the injured trio of Mohamed El Arouch, Amin Sarr and Malo Gusto for the foreseeable future.

On the flip side, Marseille will be without Azzedine Ounahi for the rest of the season as the Morocco international continues to nurse a fractured toe.

Given the recent head-to-head record of this fixture, Lyon and Marseille look destined to dish up a tight encounter on Sunday night.

Forebet predicts that Lyon and Marseille will play out a low-scoring draw, with both teams netting under 1.5 goals.
