Dortmund to keep pressure on Bayern with victory over Frankfurt
7330

Borussia Dortmund will aim to keep pace with Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga title race when they welcome Eintracht Frankfurt to Signal Iduna Park on Saturday.

With six games remaining, Dortmund find themselves second in the table – two points behind Bayern and five points clear of third-placed Union Berlin.

Meanwhile, Frankfurt occupy seventh place – 15 points behind Dortmund – following a run of seven league games without a win.

Borussia Dortmund were held to a 3-3 draw by VfB Stuttgart last weekend, despite having led 2-0 and then 3-2 in second-half stoppage time.

It is worth noting, however, that Dortmund have failed to win just three of their last 13 Bundesliga clashes to keep them within touching distance of Bayern.

BVB racked up eight successive league victories after returning from the World Cup break, scoring 22 goals in the process.

Although Dortmund have stuttered since then – taking eight points from a possible 15 – they will be confident of dispatching Frankfurt and keeping their title challenge alive.

As for Eintracht Frankfurt, they have taken a discernable turn for the worse in recent weeks, recording four draws and three losses since their last victory.

Frankfurt enjoyed a seven-game unbeaten run in the league between November and February, but they have managed to take just four points from a possible 21 since then.

It is also worth noting that Eintracht have lost four of their last five away league outings, conceding at least two goals in each of those defeats.

Having failed to win any of their last eight away league games – recording four draws and four losses along the way – Frankfurt look destined to struggle at Signal Iduna Park.

Head-to-head: Frankfurt have only managed to win one of their last 12 league meetings with Dortmund, suffering seven defeats in that time.

On top of that, Dortmund have won each of their last three matches against Eintracht, scoring a combined total of 10 goals.

Team news: Borussia Dortmund’s injury list features Mats Hummels, Thomas Meunier, Niklas Sule and Nico Schlotterbeck.

Frankfurt also have a number of injury absentees at the moment, including Kristijan Jakic, Philipp Max, Hrvoje Smolcic, Almamy Toure and Jesper Lindstrom.

While Dortmund have lost just one of their last 13 Bundesliga matches, Frankfurt have failed to win any of their previous seven.

For that reason, Forebet predicts that Dortmund will make light work of Frankfurt, with the hosts expected to score over 2.5 goals on their way to victory.
