Manchester United to heap more misery on relegation-threatened Nottingham Forest

Manchester United will be looking to strengthen their grip on a top-four spot when they face struggling Nottingham Forest at the City Ground on Sunday afternoon.

>As it stands, the Red Devils occupy fourth place in the Premier League table, with fifth-placed Tottenham Hotspur sitting three points behind.

At the opposite end of the standings, Nottingham Forest find themselves in 18th place and sit inside the relegation zone on goal difference.

Forest suffered a 2-0 defeat at Aston Villa last time out, meaning they have lost four of their last five Premier League games.

Worse still, Steve Cooper’s side have failed to win any of their previous nine league matches, with three draws and six losses coming since their last victory.

It is also worth noting that Nottingham Forest have the worst goal difference in the division (-30), having scored 24 and conceded 54.

Although the Tricky Trees boast a strong home record – having lost just two of their last 14 games at the City Ground – they will struggle to overcome Manchester United.

Indeed, the Red Devils have won four of their last seven Premier League matches, with a 2-0 victory over Everton coming last weekend.

On top of that, Man Utd have lost just three of their previous 16 league outings, picking up 10 wins along the way.

It is also worth pointing out that United have been immense at the back of late, keeping five clean sheets across their past seven Premier League clashes.

Only Arsenal and Manchester City have claimed more wins than Man Utd this season, while only three sides have registered fewer draws.

Head-to-head: Nottingham Forest and Man Utd have already faced each other three times this season – once in the league and twice in the EFL Cup.

After winning 3-0 in the league, United claimed a 5-0 aggregate victory in the EFL Cup, meaning they have scored eight goals without conceding against Forest this term.

Team news: Forest’s extensive injury list contains Chris Wood, Willy Boly, Dean Henderson, Serge Aurier, Cheikhou Kouyate, Moussa Niakhate, Omar Richards and Giulian Biancone.

Marcus Rashford is a doubt for the visitors, while Donny van de Beek, Luke Shaw and Alejandro Garnacho will miss Sunday’s clash through injury.

Regardless of Forest’s impressive home record, United should have more than enough firepower to come away with all three points.

Forebet predicts that Manchester United will score over 1.5 goals on their way to dispatching Nottingham Forest.
