Napoli to strengthen Serie A title bid with victory over AC Milan

Napoli will look to continue their seemingly unstoppable Serie A title charge when they host AC Milan at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona on Sunday evening.

With a quarter of the season remaining, table-topping Napoli find themselves a whopping 19 points clear of second-placed Lazio.

With AC Milan occupying fourth place in the standings – 23 points behind Napoli – Luciano Spalletti’s men are favoured to claim yet another victory this weekend.

Indeed, Napoli have won 23 of their 27 Serie A matches this season, taking 71 points from a possible 81 to open up an almost unassailable lead at the summit.

On top of that, Napoli are the division’s top scorers with 64 goals (2.37 goals per game), and they also boast the best defensive record, having conceded on just 16 occasions.

Not only have Spalletti’s side won each of their last three matches across all competitions, but they have also won 10 of their previous 11.

After racking up a mammoth 21 wins across their past 23 league games, Napoli will be confident of dispatching AC Milan, especially with their home fans behind them.

As for Milan, they have endured something of an inconsistent Serie A campaign up to now, recording 14 wins, six draws and seven losses.

Milan won the Serie A title last term – finishing seven points ahead of third-placed Napoli – but they have failed to build on last year’s triumph in 2023.

It is worth noting that AC Milan have failed to win any of their last three league outings, taking a solitary point from a possible nine since their last victory.

With five defeats coming in their previous nine Serie A matches, Milan will likely struggle to deal with Napoli’s threat.

Head-to-head: Napoli beat AC Milan 2-1 in the reverse fixture back in September, notching their third victory in four attempts in this fixture.

When you look at the bigger picture, Milan have only managed to win three of their last 17 meetings with the Naples outfit across all competitions.

Team news: Napoli will be without the injured Diego Demme on Sunday, while Giacomo Raspadori is a doubt due to a muscle injury.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is a doubt for AC Milan, while Pierre Kalulu and Junior Messias are both expected to miss Sunday’s showdown through injury.

Given the 19-point gulf between these two sides, high-flying Napoli look set to overcome AC Milan at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.

Forebet predicts that Napoli will score over 1.5 goals on their way to dispatching Milan, taking another step towards a memorable title win.
