FC Bayern Frauen welcome Arsenal WFC to the Allianz Arena for the first leg of their UEFA Women’s Champions League quarter-final tie on Tuesday.

As it stands, Bayern find themselves second in the Frauen-Bundesliga table, while Arsenal occupy fourth place in the Women’s Super League.

Can the Germans gain a first-leg advantage on home soil? Or will the English side get a foothold in the tie? It’s time to take a closer look at the teams.

Let’s start with the hosts, FC Bayern Frauen, who head into Tuesday’s clash on the back of an impressive 5-0 victory over 1. FC Koln Frauen.

Bayern have now won each of their last 10 Frauen-Bundesliga matches, with 13 victories coming in their 15 league outings this season.

Having scored 42 goals (2.8 goals per game) and conceded just four, Bayern will be hopeful of overtaking Wolfsburg at the top of the standings.

In the Champions League, Bayern booked their place in the quarter-finals by finishing second in Group D, winning five of their six group games to behind just behind Barcelona on goal difference.

As for Arsenal, they thrashed Reading 4-0 last time out, securing a third successive victory across all competitions in the process.

Having lost just two of their 14 league matches this term, the Gunners remain five points behind table-topping Chelsea in the Women’s Super League standings.

Arsenal finished atop Group C – two points clear of Lyon – to punch their ticket to the UWCL quarter-finals, losing just one of their six games along the way.

Not only did the Gunners score 19 goals during the group stage, but they also conceded just five, highlighting their strength at both ends of the pitch.

Head-to-head: FC Bayern Frauen and Arsenal WFC have yet to face each other in the Champions League, meeting on two occasions in friendlies over the years.

Bayern beat Arsenal 3-1 in their first meeting back in 2017 before the Germans claimed a 1-0 victory over the Gunners in 2019.

Team news: Georgia Stanway has bagged three goals and three assists in the UWCL this term. Naturally, the Bayern Lioness will be eager to enhance her tally against some of her international team-mates.

Frida Leonhardsen-Maanum has racked up four goals and three assists in this season’s Champions League, while Caitlin Foord has notched four goals and two assists for Arsenal.

Bayern will be confident of overcoming Arsenal on home soil. However, the Gunners have more than enough firepower to pick up a positive result in Germany.

For that reason, Forebet predicts that Arsenal will defeat Bayern on Tuesday, with the visitors expected to score over 2.5 goals in the process.
