United Set for a Swift Return to the Win Column Against Southampton

Manchester United will be in search of nothing but a convincing win over Southampton this weekend with the Red Devils heading into this game at Old Trafford following on from their stunning 7-0 loss to their arch rivals Liverpool at Anfield.

The battering on Merseyside shocked all of the Premier League, because despite conceding six second half goals, United were on a level playing field with Liverpool throughout the first 45.

However, they completely fell apart in the second half and it was the club’s heaviest loss in Premier League history and their biggest loss in 91 years.

Nevertheless, despite letting 7-0 goals to such a bitter rival, they are still above the Reds in fifth by seven points and a top four spot should come in due course.

Better yet, there are not many better games to have on the table than playing against a side in 19th immediately after such a devastating loss.

United have still secured 15 wins this season, although they do come into this one having now let in 35 goals in the Premier League and scored just 41 of their own. It means they have the worst goals difference record in the top 10 after Fulham and Chelsea.

As for Southampton, they are finally back to winning ways after such a dreadful run of form that saw them lose to a fellow struggler, Leeds United, and lose in the FA Cup to League Two's Grimsby Town.

This was also the first win for their latest manager, Rubén Sellés, although he will struggle to beat United at Old Trafford with them losing only twice here all season long.

Donny van de Beek and Christian Eriksen are both still out here and it means United cannot afford to change that much. Marcel Sabitzer did miss the game in midweek against Real Betis and could now start here. Anthony Martial is also not ready to return just yet.

There are not that many injuries for Southampton to deal with, although Valentino Livramento and Juan Larios are still injured. Carlos Alcaraz is set to face a late fitness test ahead of this one, but it does look as if he will be fit to play here.

Despite such a heavy loss for United last time out and a return to winning ways for the Saints, Forebet still predicts a win for United and for the game to see under 2.5 goals.
