Having suffered a rare defeat to Lazio last time out, Napoli will be looking to reignite their Serie A title charge when they host Atalanta on Saturday.
Despite last weekend’s loss, Napoli remain 15 points clear at the summit of the Serie A table, having won 21 of their 25 league games this season.
As for Atalanta, they find themselves sixth – five points outside the Champions League places and 23 points shy of Napoli.
As we already mentioned, Napoli were beaten 1-0 by Lazio last time out, despite racking up 14 shots and 65% possession on home soil.
That defeat ended a seven-game winning streak for Luciano Spalletti’s side, and it also ended a run of five consecutive clean sheets across all competitions.
When you look at the bigger picture, Napoli have won 12 of their last 15 matches, with only four losses coming in their previous 29 outings.
It is only a matter of time until Spalletti’s men clinch the scudetto, but they will be eager to secure the silverware sooner rather than later.
On the flip side, Atalanta were held to a goalless draw by Udinese last weekend – meaning they have failed to win any of their previous three games.
To make matters worse, La Dea have only managed to win one of their past six matches, suffering four defeats along the way.
It is worth noting that each of Atalanta’s previous three away league games have produced under 2.5 goals, so we should see a low-scoring encounter on Saturday.
That said, Napoli are the highest scorers in the division, having netted 58 goals in 25 outings at a rate of 2.32 goals per game.
Head-to-head: Napoli have won each of their last two meetings with Atalanta, winning 3-1 at the end of last season before winning 2-1 earlier this term.
Across the past 18 meetings between Napoli and Atalanta, there have been only two draws, so we should get a winner this time around.
Team news: Napoli will be without the suspended Mario Rui this weekend, while Giacomo Raspadori remains sidelined due to injury.
For the visitors, Atalanta’s injury list contains Duvan Zapata, Hans Hateboer, Giorgio Scalvini and Jose Luis Palomino.
Having suffered a minor slip-up last time out, Napoli will be hopeful of bouncing straight back against Atalanta.
Forebet predicts that Napoli will score over 1.5 goals and keep a clean sheet on their way to dispatching Atalanta, reigniting their title charge in the process.
