Can Liverpool continue their good PL form with win over Wolverhampton Wanderers?

Liverpool were thrashed 3-0 by Wolverhampton Wanderers in February, as the Anfielders fell apart at Molineux.

On Wednesday night, Liverpool will host Wolves at Anfield with three massive points up for grabs. Liverpool will play a game in hand against Wolves, which could see them pull closer to fourth-place Tottenham in the race for the Champions League qualification places.

Liverpool will start Wednesday in seventh place with 36 points. The Reds are nine points behind Spurs, but the London club has played two more matches.

Wolverhampton Wanderers have not been an easy customer for Liverpool this season. The teams will meet for the fourth time in midweek after playing once in the Premier League and twice in the FA Cup third round.

Wolves went to Anfield and drew 2-2 after a goal was chalked off by VAR due to a poor camera angle. The goal should have stood, with Wolves winning. Instead, the teams had a replay at Molineux with Liverpool winning 1-0 thanks to a Harvey Elliott goal.

Liverpool returned to Molineux on February 4, as Wolves unleashed a three-goal win. Joel Matip’s fifth-minute own goal was followed by a Craig Dawson goal in the 12th minute. Ruben Neves added a third in the 71st minute.

Since then, Liverpool’s league form has improved. The Reds kept three straight clean sheets in the league and took seven points from the last nine available.

Klopp has seven players on the injury list, with right-back Calvin Ramsay, midfielder Thiago, and forward Luis Diaz are ruled out of the match.

Striker Darwin Nunez missed Liverpool’s weekend nil-nil draw at Crystal Palace. Nunez was a big miss after scoring in back-to-back matches for the Reds. He is a major doubt to play due to a shoulder injury. Defenders Joe Gomez and Ibrahima Konate are unlikely to play due to injuries.

Klopp could see Arthur Melo return following months of rehab following a thigh operation. The on-loan Juventus player recently appeared for Liverpool’s U21 team.

Julen Lopetegui won’t have the services of Sasa Kalajdzic, Chinquinho, Hee-Chan Hwang, or Matheus Cunha. All four are out ruled out with injuries. Boubacar Traore could return to the team for the match but may not be fit enough to make the squad.

Liverpool are playing better following their defeat at Wolves in early February. The Reds should win on Wednesday night at home, where they have a record of 7W-3D-1L in the Premier League this season. Liverpool should post another 2-0 victory.
