PSG poised to bounce back against Lille

Believe it or not, Paris Saint-Germain will be looking to end a three-game losing run when they host Lille in Ligue 1 on Sunday.

Despite enduring a difficult period in recent weeks, PSG still find themselves at the summit of the Ligue 1 table – five points clear of second-placed Marseille.

On the flip side, Lille sit fifth – 13 points shy of the Parisians – and will go in search of their third successive league victory on Sunday.

PSG head into Sunday’s clash on the back of a 1-0 defeat to Bayern Munich in the Champions League, with Kingsley Coman scoring the only goal of the game against his former club.

Following a 2-1 loss to Marseille in the Coupe de France and a 3-1 league defeat to Monaco, it’s fair to say that PSG are not firing on all cylinders at the moment.

It is also worth noting that PSG have suffered five defeats in 11 outings across all competitions since the turn of the year.

That said, the reigning champions have only lost three of their 23 Ligue 1 matches this season and remain on course to defend their crown.

As for Lille, they head into this clash on a two-game winning streak in the league following a 3-1 victory over Rennes and a 2-0 win against Strasbourg.

Better still, LOSC have lost just one of their previous 10 Ligue 1 matches – picking up five wins and four draws along the way.

It is worth pointing out, however, that Lille have lost four of their last eight away league games, highlighting their struggles on the road.

On top of that, LOSC have failed to score in three of their previous five away games in Ligue 1, so they could struggle to find the net on Sunday.

Head-to-head: PSG claimed two massive wins against Lille in 2022, winning 5-1 and 7-1 at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy last year.

To make matters worse for Lille, they have only managed to win two of their last nine meetings with the Parisians across all competitions.

Team news: Kylian Mbappe is back in action for PSG, but Renato Sanches and Nordi Mukiele are sidelined due to injury.

Lille look set to be without the injured duo of Adam Ounas and Ismaily on Sunday, while Leny Yoro is expected to miss the game due to illness.

Despite PSG’s recent struggles, the hosts are expected to flex their muscles and return to winning ways this weekend.

Forebet predicts that PSG will score over 1.5 goals and keep a clean sheet on their way to dispatching Lille.
