Sporting Should Ease Past the Struggling Midtjylland in the Europa League

Sporting Lisbon will be hoping to park their miserable league form when they play hosts to Midtjylland in the Europa League at the José Alvalade Stadium with the Primeira Liga side sitting fourth on the domestic front as the away side are slumped into seventh.
For all the woes Sporting are facing ahead of this one on the domestic front, they are not in nearly half as bad of form as their opposition.
Midtjylland narrowly got through their Atlantic Cup group stage with a penalty shootout win against IF Elfsborg. They haven't played in the Danish Superliga since November, however, and remain in deep trouble by sitting seventh.
It's the lowest they have been in many years after 17 games in the league and they now sit in the relegation round and one point below the championship round.
Now, with two games since the World Cup, their only win in regular time came against Ulsan two weeks ago.
Sporting have finished inside the top two in the last two seasons in Portugal, winning the title in 2020/21 and finishing second a year later.
As of now, they are currently on course to finish the lowest they have since 2019/20, as they are behind Braga in third by eight points and adrift of Porto in second by 10 points after losing to them last weekend.
At home, Sporting lost to rivals Porto 2-1, as Youssef Chermiti scored in the 97th minute of the game where they had 16 shots towards goal and five on target.
It was the club's sixth loss in the Primeira Liga this campaign, as they have won just 12 of the 20 outings so far. In fact, they even lost the Taca da Liga final to Porto just three weeks ago after making it all the way to the final just to lose in convincing style.
Sporting also had a tough time at moments in the Champions League, but they were heading into the knockout rounds right up until the dying embers of their game against Eintracht Frankfurt.
Arthur scored in the first half as Tottenham Hotspur were losing. However, two late goals from Spurs and two second half goals from Frankfurt forced the Portuguese side into third after sitting second for much of the final group games.
In total, they finished on seven points, and managed to beat Frankfurt in Germany 3-0, while beating Spurs at home and then drawing 1-1 with them in north London.
