Blackpool will host Huddersfield at Bloomfield Road in a Championship six-point relegation fixture, as both sides sit in the league’s bottom three. Huddersfield are 22nd in the league standings and just one point above 23rd-place Huddersfield.

Both clubs are in poor form ahead of the fixture. Huddersfield are winless in four straight matches in the Championship, while Blackpool are winless in their last 11 games in the division.

Blackpool took three points from the last six games in the division. The Tangerines scored a mere four goals and conceded 10 times across those last six fixtures.

Mick McCarthy took charge of Blackpool in January and is yet to win a game as manager. Blackpool have the Championship’s second-worst home points total this season. Just 12 points were picked up by Blackpool in 13 games at Bloomfield Road.

Huddersfield are in better form than Blackpool ahead of the fixture on Tuesday night. The Terriers picked up eight points from the last six games in the Championship. They scored seven goals and conceded seven times across those six fixtures.

Although Huddersfield’s form is improving, they are the Championship’s worst away team in terms of points. The Terriers picked up nine points from 13 games on the road this term. They were outscored 21-12 in those 13 fixtures.

The last six games between these teams were nearly split down the middle with Huddersfield winning three games, drawing one, and losing twice to Blackpool.

The reverse fixture saw Blackpool win 1-0 against Huddersfield at the John Smith’s Stadium. Theo Corbeanu scored in the 38th minute to give Huddersfield the win. Blackpool received three yellow cards, while Huddersfield did not receive a card.

McCarthy has six players in the treatment room at Bloomfield Road ahead of the game. Marvin Ekpiteta has a hamstring injury and could miss the game. Liam Bridcutt, Lewis Fiorini, and Keshi Anderson are all doubts with leg injuries, which will leave McCarthy with a depleted midfield.

Lawrence Gabriel is a doubt with a knee injury. Finally, McCarthy could be without midfielder Kevin Stewart due to a broken foot.

Mark Fotheringham has five players on the Huddersfield injury list going into the game. Forward Danny Ward could return from an illness. Forward Patrick Jones is a doubt due to a hamstring injury. Defender Yuta Nakayama is ruled out with an Achilles injury.

Midfielder Faustino Anjorin has an ankle injury and is likely to be out of action. Goalkeeper Lee Nicholls has a shoulder problem and is ruled out of the fixture.

Both Blackpool and Huddersfield are struggling for points, and Tuesday’s game is likely to finish in a stalemate. The game should finish 1-1 with neither team able to get the upper hand. A 1-1 scoreline is the most common score in the Championship this season, appearing 12.07% of the time.
