Tottenham unlikely to prevent Man City victory
7014

Spurs and Manchester City wrap up the weekend’s Premier League action at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The two sides met in the reverse fixture on January 19, with Pep Guardiola’s side coming from two goals down to beat Tottenham 4-2 at the Etihad Stadium.

In terms of the Premier League table, Man City find themselves second – five points behind Arsenal and nine points clear of fifth-placed Spurs.

Tottenham head into Sunday’s clash on the back of a 3-0 victory over Preston North End in the FA Cup, with Son Heung-min bagging a brace last weekend.

That means Antonio Conte’s side have won four of their previous six games across all competitions, securing two league victories and two cup victories.

That said, Spurs have struggled for consistency in the Premier League this season – registering 11 wins, three draws and seven losses in 21 outings.

It is also worth noting that each of Tottenham’s previous three home games have produced under 2.5 goals, meaning Sunday’s clash isn’t likely to be a high-scoring affair.

As for Manchester City, they defeated Arsenal 1-0 in the FA Cup last time out – meaning they head into this clash on a three-game winning streak across all competitions.

When you look at the bigger picture, the Cityzens have won five of their last seven matches, with seven victories coming in their previous 10.

Although Guardiola’s side have lost just three of their 20 Premier League games this term, they still find themselves five points behind Arsenal due to the Gunners’ outstanding form.

Given that City are the highest scorers in the Premier League – having netted 53 goals this season (2.7 goals per game) – they shouldn’t struggle to find the back of the net this weekend.

Head-to-head: Tottenham and Manchester City have both won three of the previous six Premier League meetings between the teams.

Although Spurs have won each of their last four home games against City, Conte’s men will still be hurting after losing 4-2 to the Cityzens last month.

Team news: Richarlison and Lucas Moura are both injured for Spurs, meaning new signings Arnaut Danjuma and Pedro Porro could feature this weekend.

On the flip side, Man City are currently without the injured John Stones, while Phil Foden is a doubt for Sunday’s showdown.

Regardless of Tottenham’s impressive recent record against Man City on home soil, Guardiola’s side are expected to claim all three points this time around.

Forebet predicts that Manchester City will score over 1.5 goals and keep a clean sheet on their way to dispatching Tottenham Hotspur.
