Liverpool expected to bounce back against Wolves
6097

Following a couple of FA Cup meetings between the teams in January, Wolverhampton Wanderers host Liverpool in the Premier League on Saturday.

The two sides played out a 2-2 draw at Anfield before Liverpool won the replay 1-0 at Molineux, meaning Wolves will be eager to gain their revenge this time around.

However, with 12 points separating ninth-placed Liverpool and seventeenth-placed Wolves in the table, the hosts could struggle to retaliate on Saturday.

Having won just four of their 20 Premier League games this season, the Wanderers find themselves level with eighteenth-placed Bournemouth on 17 points.

With five draws and 11 losses to their name, Wolves look destined to be involved in a relegation battle during the second half of the campaign.

The Wanderers head into Saturday’s clash on the back of a 3-0 defeat to Manchester City, meaning they have only managed to win one of their last seven outings in all competitions.

It is also worth noting that Wolves are the lowest scorers in the Premier League, having netted a measly 12 goals this term.

On the flip side, Liverpool were beaten 2-1 by Brighton & Hove Albion in the FA Cup last weekend – suffering a second defeat to the Seagulls in as many weeks.

When you look at the bigger picture, Jurgen Klopp’s side have managed to win just one of their previous six encounters across all competitions.

There is no hiding the fact that Liverpool are enduring a difficult campaign, having recorded eight wins, five draws and six losses in the Premier League.

Even so, the Reds will be confident of returning to winning ways and getting back on track when they face relegation-threatened Wolves.

Head-to-head: Following January’s meetings, Liverpool are now unbeaten against Wolves in each of their last nine meetings across all competitions.

It is also worth pointing out that Liverpool have won each of their previous 11 Premier League matches against the Wanderers.

Team news: Pedro Neto, Chiquinho, Sasa Kalajdzic and Boubacar Traore are all currently injured for Wolves.

Meanwhile, Liverpool’s injury list contains Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota, Roberto Firmino and Virgil van Dijk, with Fabio Carvalho a doubt for Saturday.

Given Liverpool’s outstanding record in this fixture in recent years, Klopp’s men are expected to heap more misery on struggling Wolves.

Forebet predicts that Liverpool will claim a low-scoring victory at Molineux, while the hosts are expected to fire a blank.
