On Wednesday, Nottingham Forest will need to overturn a 3-0 deficit at Old Trafford if they want to reach the EFL Cup final at the expense of Manchester United.

The Red Devils dominated the first leg last week, with goals from Marcus Rashford, Wout Weghorst and Bruno Fernandes putting them in control of the tie.

After racking up 15 shots and 68% possession at the City Ground, Man Utd will be confident of producing a similar performance and sealing the deal on home soil.

Last time out, Erik ten Hag’s side booked their place in the fifth round of the FA Cup with a 3-1 victory over Championship side Reading.

That means United have lost just one of their previous 13 matches across all competitions, picking up 11 wins and one draw along the way.

In the Premier League, the Red Devils find themselves fourth – 18 points clear of thirteenth-placed Forest – having recorded 12 wins, three draws and five losses this term.

Given that Man Utd have netted at least two goals in each of their past four EFL Cup games, they will fancy their chances of enjoying another high-scoring victory on Wednesday.

On the flip side, Forest have only managed to win five of their 20 Premier League outings this term – registering six draws and nine losses in the process.

That said, Steve Cooper’s side have improved of late. Not only have they lost just two of their last seven outings in all competitions, but they have also lost three of their previous 12.

The Tricky Tree are currently enjoying a four-match unbeaten run in the league, having picked up two wins and two draws since their last loss.

However, if last week’s meeting with Man Utd is anything to go by, Forest are still miles behind the Red Devils in terms of quality.

Head-to-head: Man Utd have claimed back-to-back 3-0 wins against Forest, triumphing in the league in December before winning at the City Ground last week.

When you look at the bigger picture, United have won each of their previous eight meetings with Forest across all competitions since 1996.

Team news: Anthony Martial, Diogo Dalot, Christian Eriksen and Donny van de Beek are all currently unavailable for Man Utd due to injury.

Forest have several injury absentees, too, including Taiwo Awoniyi, Omar Richards, Moussa Niakhate, Dean Henderson, Morgan Gibbs-White and Cheikhou Kouyate.

Given what happened at the City Ground last week, all the signs point towards another easy win for Man Utd on Wednesday.

Forebet predicts that Manchester United will once again beat Nottingham Forest 3-0, booking their place in the EFL Cup final as a result.
