Valencia will host Almeria at Mestalla on Monday night, as they look to end a two-game La Liga losing streak. Almeria are also on a poor run of form, with three straight matches ending without victories.

Monday’s match at Mestalla will be the first between the clubs since 2015. Almeria returned to La Liga ahead of the current season. Los Rojiblancos have played well this season for a newly-promoted team. Almeria are 13th in the standings with 18 points.

Valencia are just one point and one place better off in the table. Both sides are in danger of a relegation fight. Just three points separate Valencia and 18th-place Cadiz. Just six points separate 10th place and 18th place in the La Liga standings.

Los Che took a mere four points from their last six games in La Liga. Gennaro Gattuso’s team is having difficulty scoring goals with just six in the last six games. Los Che conceded seven goals during that same time.

Almeria picked up eight points from the last 18 points on offer in the division. Los Rojiblancos scored six goals and conceded seven in their last six matches. Like Valencia, Almeria are having trouble scoring goals.

Almeria have collected a mere two points on the road this season. Los Rojiblancos are one of two La Liga teams not to win a game away from home. The team scored a mere four goals in eight road fixtures.

Valencia have taken 13 points from six games at Mestalla this season. Gattuso’s team scored 15 goals in nine matches at home while conceding eight times.

Gattuso will be without Samu Castillejo is ruled out with a wrist injury. He won’t return until February. Midfielder Nico Gonzalez is also ruled out following a foot injury.

Almeria manager Rubi has no fresh injuries going into the weekend match. The team is led in goals by EL Bilal Toure, with four goals in 11 appearances. Almeria have scored 18 goals in just 17 fixtures.

Edinson Cavani leads Valencia in goals with five in nine appearances. Valencia’s attack has scored 23 times in La Liga this term, while the defence has allowed just 18. Despite having a +5-goal difference, Valencia are struggling for points this term.

Valencia may be struggling for points, but Gattuso should lead them to a win against the newly-promoted team. Almeria’s struggles should continue, as Valencia end their losing streak with a 2-1 win.
