Girona and Sevilla set for stalemate in La Liga six-pointer

Girona are unbeaten in their last six matches in La Liga ahead of matchday No 17. Los Rojiblancos picked up 10 points from their last six games and will fancy a result against Sevilla on Saturday.

Sevilla are 17th in the La Liga table and relegation is a real worry for the Andalusian team. Sevilla won just one of their last six games in the division and sit outside the relegation zone courtesy of goal difference.

Los Blanquirrojos picked up a mere 15 points from 16 games in the league. Goals have been difficult for Sevilla to score, as they have tallied a mere 16 this term.

Girona and Sevilla have not played since the 2018-19 season. Each of the last five games between the sides in all competitions finished with both teams not scoring goals. Sevilla posted a record of five wins and one loss against Girona during that time.

Sevilla took just five points from the last six games in the league. Los Blanquirrojos scored a mere six goals in the last six games while conceding nine times.

Girona’s 10 points from the last 18 points on offer have them rising up the table. Los Rojiblancos go into matchday No 17 in 12th place. However, just three points separate them from the relegation zone. Girona scored 10 goals and allowed eight to opponents across the last six games.

Girona are on a strong run of home form with four straight games ending without defeat. Los Rojiblancos' problem this season has been too many goals allowed and not enough scored.

They have allowed 26 goals, La Liga’s third most. However, Girona have scored the league’s third-most goals with 24. If the manager Michel can sort out the team’s defence, they could finish comfortably in the midtable this season.

Sevilla play better on the road than at home in 2022-23. They are on a two-game streak of draws away from home.

Nine of Sevilla’s 15 points have come on the road this term. Twenty-four goals were conceded by Sevilla in the opening 16 games. Their tally of 16 goals for is one of the league’s worst.

Michel will be without striker Taty Castellanos due to a red-card suspension this weekend. Jesus Carvalho, Javi Hernandez, and Juanpe are also expected to miss the game through injuries.

Jorge Sampaoli will likely be without Alex Telles and Jesus Manuel Corona due to injuries. Thomas Delaney and Teixeira Marcao are both ruled out of action.

Girona and Sevilla have drawn six matches from 16 games apiece. The teams rank second in La Liga in draws this season. Saturday’s game should finish 1-1 with neither side able to get all three points. The 1-1 score is the most common in La Liga and has appeared 21 times this term.  Los Blanquirrojos
