USA and Wales Set to Draw in Group B

It’s the first game at a World Cup since 1958 for Wales as they meet with the USA at the Al Rayyan Stadium with the Yanks also coming into this one having missed out on the action at Russia 2018 in what is arguably the biggest game of Group B here.

England are expected to finish top of the group and it is also heavily predicted that Iran will finish bottom of Group B.

This brings all the attention onto the shoulders of Wales and USA and because they meet in the first game of their World Cup campaign, it could be the match that sets the tone for them across this competition.

USA are, however, struggling and they also made hard work of their qualification to the World Cup. The Yanks drew 0-0 with Saudi Arabia in their last international break, just four days on from losing 2-0 to Japan.

A further draw with El Salavador in the Nations League and a 0-0 draw with Uruguay in a friendly means only one win in the past five for the USA, beating Grenada 5-0.

Despite the lack of form, there are some players that will threaten Wales in Group B. Christian Pulisic is usually the main man for USA heading into a major tournament, but he has not played more than 400 minutes for Chelsea in all competitions, meaning he has spent practically all of the season sitting on the bench.

The likes of Gio Reyna have improved their form at club level, while Tyler Adams has looked impressive for Leeds United.

However, attention will fall on the shoulders of the goalscoring capabilities of Jesus Ferreira. The Colombian-born scored 18 times in the MLS this season, and no other homegrown players scored more. In fact, across the USA squad, nobody is coming close to his goals ratio right now.

As for Wales, they have struggles of their own too, but in typical Gareth Bale fashion, the Welsman barely kicked a ball for his new club - which is ironically in America - Los Angeles FC, and ended up winning the MLS Cup for his side.

Wales also failed to win any of their Nations League games and players like Aaron Ramsey and Daniel James continue to struggle at club level this season.

It’s arguably the biggest game of the World Cup for USA and Wales, and Forebet predicts a draw and under 2.5 goals.
