Derby County will host Torquay United on Tuesday in an FA Cup first-round replay. The Rams and Gulls will do battle at Pride Park, with a place in the FA Cup second round up for grabs.
Progression to the second round equals more money for both clubs, as they attempt to reach the more prestigious third round when Premier League clubs enter the fray.
Derby County looked set for an FA Cup first-round win in the original fixture between these teams. The Rams took a 2-0 lead after 47 minutes thanks to two goals from William Osula. Torquay United battled back to get a draw with goals from Asa Hall and Will Goodwin in the final 34 minutes.
Goodwin’s equaliser came in the 90th minute of the match. Derby County played the final 35 minutes of the match with 10 men, which helped the Gulls fight back for the stalemate.
Paul Warne’s Derby County are unbeaten in their last six games in all competitions. However, four of their last six matches ended as draws. Derby County were victorious at the weekend versus MK Dons in League One with a 3-1 win.
Torquay are aiming for a major scalp on Tuesday night. The National League club reached the first round of the FA Cup thanks to winning an FA Cup qualifying round tie versus Hampton and Richmond.
The Gulls needed a replay for the qualifying round after drawing the first match 2-2 at home. Torquay United went to Hampton and Richmond for the replay and won 2-1.
Manager Gary Johnson has a team in poor form going into the FA Cup first-round replay with Derby County. The Gulls have won just four of their 22 matches in all competitions this season. Their last three games in all competitions ended without a victory.
Torquay United play better on the road than at home. The Gulls have three wins from 10 games away from Plainmoor.
