Lopetegui to Win His First Match With Wolves Against Leeds
2331

Wolverhampton Wanderers and Leeds United take a break from Premier League action to meet in the EFL Cup third round this Wednesday in what will be the first game in charge for Julen Lopetegui with Wolves.

Wolves have been awful this season, but after the sacking of Bruno Lage a few weeks ago, they now have a new manager in former Spain head coach, Lopetegui.

He has spent the past few years working with Sevilla, but there is a concern given how the Spaniard has guided Sevilla into 18th before leaving his role.

Worse yet for Lopetegui, Wolves are still very injury-prone and have many injuries to deal with. Diego Costa's three-game ban continues for this game and Francisco Tavares is out for most of the season, while Matheus Nunes may return here.

Raul Jimenez remains out until after the World Cup at least, and Tote Antonio Gomes is not ready to return for this one, while Pedro Neto is still out for many months alongside Sasa Kalajdzic. Nelson Semedo is also suspended.

As for Leeds, Stuart Dallas will return in January after the World Cup, and Patrick Bamford's injury struggles carry on here, and he won't play until the weekend. Adam Forshaw is not ready for a comeback either, while Luis Fernando Sinisterra is out until after the World Cup, although Archie Gray could come back.

Wolves lost once more on home soil over the weekend against Brighton & Hove Albion, losing the match 3-2 which now means they remain in 19th and deep in the bottom three with very little hope of getting out of the relegation spots before the World Cup.

As for Leeds, their form has turned around spectacularly in recent weeks and the pressure on Jesse Marsch has suddenly disappeared as we entered November off the back of two wins in a row. Leeds became the first team to beat Liverpool at Anfield with Virgil van Dijk in the starting XI, as Summerville scored in the final few minutes on Merseyside in a 2-1 win.

The Dutchman was the hero once more this past weekend, as Leeds beat Bournemouth 4-3 in a magical comeback victory at Elland Road, beating the Cherries 4-2.

The two sides are now in completely contrasting bouts of form, but only four spots separate them in the league table.

Forebet predicts a win for Lopetegui on his debut and for the game to see over 2.5 goals.
