Rennes are on a sensational run of form in Ligue 1 and are suddenly up to third in the standings. The Black and Reds are eight points off first-place Paris Saint-Germain and three points from second-place Lens ahead of matchday No 14.

Lille will host Rennes on Sunday with the aim of ending the visitor’s five-game winning streak.

Les Dogues are seventh in the standings ahead of the weekend and just two points off the top five. Lille are coming off a 1-0 loss to Lyon on matchday 13, which ended a three-game winning streak.

Les Dogues took 12 points from the last six games in the league. They scored 11 goals and conceded seven times. Lille are playing well at home with 12 points from six games. Les Dogues won their last three home matches in Ligue 1.

Rennes are Ligue 1’s form team. They took 16 points from the last 18 points on offer in the division. Rennes outscored their last six opponents 15-5.

The Black and Red are hot and cold on the road. They have a record of 2W-3D-1L from six games, and a goal difference of +2. Rennes are on a two-game winning streak on the road.

Although Rennes are in good form, they have a poor head-to-head record against Lille.

Les Dogues posted a record of 3W-3D-0L in the teams’ last six head-to-head encounters. Rennes did go to Lille a season ago and left with a 2-2 draw.

Lille manager Paulo Fonseca will be without forward Gabriel Gudmundsson. The forward has a groin strain. Midfielder Alan Virginius is a doubt due to an unspecified issue.

Striker Jonathan David is having a brilliant campaign for Lille. He has nine league goals with seven of the strikes coming from open play. David will play for Canada at the World Cup later this month.

Rennes manager Bruno Genesio will be without Baptiste Santamaria until January due to an ankle injury. Defender Warmed Omari could return in time for the game following a groin strain.

Martin Terrier leads Rennes with eight goals this season. The 25-year-old has added three assists to the Rennes cause. Summer signing Amine Gouiri has six goals for the Black and Red.

Rennes do not have a good head-to-head record versus Lille. However, the Black and Red are Ligue 1’s form team.

Rennes should end their poor record against Les Dogues with a win at full-time on Sunday. The win could take Rennes into the top two.
