Mallorca and Espanyol Expected to Rack up Another La Liga Draw

12th and 14th in La Liga will meet this Friday night to kick off La Liga action for the weekend with RCD Mallorca meeting with Espanyol at Son Moix in what is set to be a crucial game for either side making it into the top half of the table before the World Cup.

Mallorca have struggled for the past month, as they club have registered just one win in the past month. A 1-0 loss at home would come against Barcelona, before then losing at home to Sevilla too.

A 1-1 draw with Elche added to the woes, before the club then went on to lose against Real Sociedad, it does mean there was a period of time where Mallorca scored just one goal in a month.

They are, however, right back in the win column following on from defeating Valencia 2-1 thanks to goals from Vedat Muriqi from the spot and then a late winner from Lee Kang-in within the final 10 minutes.

On the other hand, Mallorca saw only 32% of the ball and then went on to have five shots on target in what was a struggle for them to get the win.

The club are now sitting 12th in the table with three wins, three draws and nine defeats. At the same time, they scored only nine goals so far in the league, which is the lowest for those sitting outside of the relegation zone.

In fact, even Girona in 18th have scored more than them, as only Cadiz and Elche have scored fewer.

As for Espanyol, they are even further down the table but they have managed to score more goals with 14 netted from the 11 games.

On the other hand, with just two wins in La Liga, the club have racked up just 10 points so far with them also registering four draws in the league.

Five defeats, however, is the fewest between the bottom half and the relegation zone and it is the same amount as Mallorca.

Espnayol also drew 2-2 with Elche in the last game to make it two games without a win in La Liga, with the club also losing to Osasuna just prior to this.

They did go on to beat Real Valladolid in October too, but with a 2-2 draw against Cadiz, they are continuing to struggle against sides lower than them in the table.
