The top two in Champions League Group G go head-to-head on Tuesday, as Borussia Dortmund welcome Manchester City to Signal Iduna Park.
First-place Man City find themselves three points clear of second-place Dortmund, with Sevilla and Copenhagen sitting five points outside the qualification spots.
Man City have already booked their place in the knockout phase, while Dortmund are on the verge of joining them. Can BVB make amends for their 2-1 loss to City on Matchday 2?
Dortmund head into Tuesday’s clash on the back of a 5-0 victory over Stuttgart, with Jude Bellingham bagging a brace.
Bellingham has now registered eight goals and two assists in 17 games across all competitions this season, including a goal in every Champions League outing.
Dortmund crushed Copenhagen 3-0 on Matchday 1 before losing 2-1 to Man City. Since then, they have thrashed Sevilla 4-1 and also recorded a 1-1 draw with the Spanish side.
It’s fair to say that BVB have been wildly inconsistent of late, registering four wins, two draws and four losses in their past ten games across all competitions.
As for Man City, they beat Brighton 3-1 at the weekend – thanks to another double from the seemingly unstoppable Erling Haaland.
Haaland has now racked up 22 goals and three assists in 15 matches across all competitions this term, including five goals in three Champions League outings.
Pep Guardiola’s side have been immense in the UCL this season, dispatching Sevilla (0-4), Dortmund (2-1) and Copenhagen (5-0) before being held to a goalless draw by the Danes.
Having lost just one of their 15 games in all competitions this term, City will be confident of avoiding defeat on Tuesday.
Head-to-head: Dortmund and City have faced each other five times in the UCL since 2012, with the German side winning on just one occasion.
It is worth noting that Guardiola’s team have won each of the past meetings 2-1, claiming two victories on home soil and one in Dortmund.
Team news: Dortmund’s lengthy injury list contains Marco Reus, Salih Ozcan, Mateu Morey Bauza, Thomas Meunier, Sebastien Haller, Mahmoud Dahoud and Jamie Bynoe-Gittens.
As for Man City, Sergio Gomez is suspended after picking up a red card against Copenhagen. Kyle Walker and Kalvin Phillips remain sidelined through injury.
Although Man City have enjoyed plenty of success in this fixture over the years, Dortmund are expected to rise to the occasion in front of their passionate home fans.
With that in mind, Forebet predicts that Dortmund will hold Man City to a draw on Tuesday – with both sides netting under 1.5 goals.
