West Ham United and AFC Bournemouth have their sights set on the top half of the Premier League table as they prepare to face off at the London Stadium on Monday night.

The two sides are separated by a solitary place in the standings, with thirteenth-place West Ham trailing twelfth-place Bournemouth by two points.

But with only two points between the Hammers and the relegation zone, both teams will be eager to claim all three points on Monday.

Following an impressive 2021/22 campaign West Ham have only managed to win three of their 11 league games this term – recording two draws and six losses.

Although David Moyes’ side boast one of the best defensive records in the division, they also have one of the worst offensive records (9).

That said, the Hammers have won each of their previous four home games in all competitions – thanks to a couple of solid wins in the Europa Conference League.

It is also worth noting that West Ham have lost just one of their past six clashes across all competitions, so they will be confident of avoiding defeat on Monday.

As for Bournemouth, they have lost just four of their 11 Premier League games this season – picking up three wins and four draws.

Despite leading West Ham in the table, the Cherries have conceded 11 goals more than Monday’s opponents. That tells you everything you need to know about their weak backline.

The south coast side suffered a 1-0 home defeat to Southampton in midweek, meaning they have only managed to win one of their past five league outings.

Given that Bournemouth have won just two of their previous 11 matches in all competitions, they will likely struggle to claim all three points on Monday.

Head-to-head: West Ham and Bournemouth faced each other ten times in the Premier League between 2015 and 2020. The Cherries claimed four wins, while the Hammers won three times.

Six of the past ten league meetings between West Ham and Bournemouth have produced over 3.5 goals, so we should see plenty of action at the London Stadium.

Team news: West Ham have Lucas Paqueta and Nayef Aguerd sidelined through injury. There are also question marks over the fitness of Craig Dawson and Maxwel Cornet.

Bournemouth have no fresh injury worries, although David Brooks and Lloyd Kelly remain on the treatment table.

With just two points separating West Ham and Bournemouth, Monday’s clash is destined to be a close-fought battle.

For that reason, Forebet predicts that West Ham and Bournemouth will share the points. If the past few meetings between these teams are anything to go by, over 3.5 goals are on the cards.
