High-flying Napoli ready for Roma showdown

The Derby del Sole takes centre stage in Serie A this weekend, as Jose Mourinho’s Roma welcome league leaders Napoli to the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday night.

Napoli have yet to taste defeat this season. As a result, they find themselves at the Serie A summit – two points clear of second-place Atalanta.

However, Roma aren’t too far behind. Following three straight wins, Mourinho’s men sit fourth – four points shy of Napoli.

The club from the capital have only lost two of their ten league outings this term, securing seven wins and one draw in the process.

Not only have Roma won each of their last three Serie A games, but they have also won five of their previous seven – scoring over 1.5 goals on four occasions during that period.

Thanks to a strong end to the previous campaign, Roma have lost just four of their last 27 league matches.

That said, Mourinho’s men will struggled to claim all three points against high-flying Napoli – regardless of the home advantage.

As for Napoli, they have claimed eight wins and two draws in Serie A this season. Alongside Atalanta, they remain unbeaten in 2022/23.

Luciano Spalletti’s side have won each of their past six league outings, dispatching Lazio, Spezia, Milan, Torino, Cremonese and Bologna along the way.

Having netted 25 goals in ten games (2.5 goals per game), Napoli are the league’s top scorers by some distance this season.

Not only have Napoli avoided defeat in each of their last 14 Serie A clashes, but they have also avoided defeat in 26 of their previous 29. That is not good news for Roma.

Head-to-head: Napoli are currently enjoying a five-game unbeaten streak in this fixture, having claimed three wins and two draws since their last loss against Roma.

Unfortunately for Roma, they have only managed to win one of their past eight Serie A meetings with their Derby del Sole rivals.

Team news: Roma are missing a number of key players due to injury at the moment, most notably Paulo Dybala and Georginio Wijnaldum.

As for Napoli, they look set to be without the injured duo of Amir Rrahmani and Frank Anguissa for the trip to the capital.

Although Roma are enjoying a solid campaign so far, there is no denying that Napoli are on a completely different level right now.

For that reason, Forebet predicts that Napoli will claim the Derby del Sole bragging rights this time around – scoring over 1.5 goals en route to victory.
