Sevilla will be looking to continue their climb up the La Liga table when they welcome Valencia to the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium on Tuesday night.

Having taken just nine points from a possible 27 this season, Sevilla are languishing in the bottom half of the standings. Let’s not forget they finished fourth last term.

On the flip side, Valencia find themselves just outside the European places – five points clear of Sevilla – after picking up 14 points from their opening nine games.

Believe it or not, Sevilla have only managed to win two of their nine La Liga clashes this season – recording three draws and four losses.

The Andalusia outfit failed to win any of their first four clashes, drawing with Valladolid (1-1) and losing to Osasuna (2-1), Almeria (2-1) and Barcelona (0-3).

After beating Espanyol (3-2), they failed to beat Villarreal (1-1), Atletico Madrid (0-2) and Athletic Club (1-1). However, they returned to winning ways last time out – dispatching Mallorca (0-1).

This season, eight of Sevilla’s nine league games have produced over 1.5 goals. Last weekend’s win was the first game in which they have kept a clean sheet.

As for Valencia, they have won four of their nine La Liga outings this term – registering two draws and three defeats.

Los Che lost three of their opening five league clashes, falling to Athletic Club (1-0), Atletico Madrid (0-1) and Rayo Vallecano (2-1). But they have managed to bounced back.

Valencia head into Tuesday’s clash on a four-game unbeaten streak. After beating Celta Vigo (3-0) and drawing with Espanyol (2-2), they beat Osasuna (1-2) before drawing with Elche (2-2).

All of Valencia’s past six league games have dished up over 2.5 goals, while three have produced over 3.5 goals.

Head-to-head: Valencia have failed to win any of their last seven meetings with Sevilla in all competitions, suffering five losses in the process.

Valencia have only managed to win one of their previous eight La Liga clashes against Sevilla, with seven of those games producing under 2.5 goals.

Team news: Sevilla will be without the injured duo of Jesus Corna and Karim Rekik on Tuesday. Fernando is also a doubt due to illness.

Meanwhile, Jaume Domenech is missing through injury for Valencia. Samu Castillejo is also an injury doubt for Tuesday’s clash.

Given the low-scoring nature of this fixture in recent years, Tuesday’s meeting is destined to be a relatively uneventful encounter.

Forebet predicts that Sevilla and Valencia will play out a low-key draw, with both sides netting under 1.5 goals.
