On Tuesday night, Celtic and RB Leipzig go head-to-head at Celtic Park in what could be a crucial game in Group F of the Champions League.

The Hoops head into this clash on the back of a last-gasp 2-1 win at St Johnstone, which kept Ange Postecoglou’s team top of the SPL table. The win came on the back of a 3-1 reverse in Leipzig, which makes the home side massive outsiders to make the last 16.

In fact, Celtic have taken just a solitary point from their opening three matches in Group F. Another defeat in this clash would make it far more difficult for the Hoops to turn things around.

The team from Glasgow were always up against it to qualify from a group with three such savvy European teams, especially when the Scottish team has now won just one of their previous nine matches in European football elite competition.

Die Roten Bullen are now three games undefeated in all competitions after a 1-1 draw in Mainz at the weekend. However, when it comes to the Champions League, it was the reverse fixture that could change their European destiny this season.

The win was vital, as Leipzig had lost their opening two group games against Shakhtar Donetsk and reigning European champions Real Madrid.

RB Leipzig still only has three points, but with second-place Shakhtar meeting Real Madrid in the other match of the gameweek, a win in this clash could move the visitors into the last 16 qualification spots.

However, the visitors will have to overcome a poor recent away record in European football’s elite competition if they are to move into the group’s top two, as Die Roten Bullen has lost four of their previous five away games in the Champions League.
