On Tuesday Night, Ajax and Napoli go head-to-head at the Johan Cruyff Arena in a potentially vital clash in Group A of the Champions League.

Ajax

By their standards, the reigning Dutch champions go into this game on a rare run of poor form. A 1-1 home draw with Go Ahead Eagles last time out means that Alfred Schreuder’s team has failed to win in three matches in all competitions.

Ajax has made a mixed start to their Champions League campaign so far. They opened their campaign with a 4-0 home win over Scottish giants Rangers before a 2-1 defeat at Anfield against Liverpool last time out. Due to the big win in gameweek one, Ajax are still second in the group.

The defeat at Liverpool means that the Dutch team has won just one of their previous four matches in the Champions League.

However, Ajax has a formidable recent home record in European football’s elite competition, winning four of their last five home games.

Napoli

Luciano Spalletti’s team has made an excellent all-around start to the campaign. The team from Naples currently sit top of Serie A and Group A too. A 3-1 win over Torino last time out was their sixth straight victory in all competitions.

Napoli have been highly convincing in their two Champions League games this season, hammering Liverpool 4-1 at home before an imposing 3-0 win in Glasgow against Rangers.

The visitors have proven a tough nut to crack in the Champions League of late, as Napoli has lost just one of their previous ten games in European football’s elite competition.

Their away form in the competition has been slightly patchy of late, as they have won just two of their previous five matches on their travels.
