Newcastle set for sixth draw of EPL season against Fulham

Newcastle are winless in their last six matches in the Premier League. Despite the money invested in the team, manager Eddie Howe has won just one match this season.

Howe’s job does not seem in danger as leading sportsbooks have the manager at odds of 50/1 to be the next coach sacked.

The Magpies will travel to Craven Cottage on Saturday to play Fulham. The Cottagers are sixth in the league with 11 points from 21 points available. Fulham’s form has shocked onlookers, as the newly-promoted side has played well.

Manager Marco Silva is aiming for a fourth win of the campaign which would take Fulham into the top four. The Cottagers are coming off of a 3-2 win against fellow newly-promoted team Nottingham Forest. It was their third win in five matches.

Fulham are unbeaten at Craven Cottage this season. A 2-2 draw with Liverpool was followed by a 3-2 derby win versus Brentford, and a 2-1 victory over Brighton.

Newcastle United are coming off a 1-1 draw with Bournemouth at St. James’ Park. It was the team’s second consecutive draw in the league. Goals are elusive for Newcastle United. Just eight goals were scored in the team’s opening seven matches. Three of those eight goals were against Man City.

Howe’s team took just five points from the last 18 points on offer. While plenty of pundits will talk about the “great job” Howe has done at the club, it cannot be ignored the former Bournemouth manager is struggling for wins.

The last six matches between Fulham and Newcastle United were divided two wins, two draws, and two losses apiece. Newcastle United won on their last two trips to Craven Cottage. Fulham are a much different team compared to the one from the previous fixtures.

Striker Aleksandar Mitrovic has six of Fulham’s 12 goals this season. He accounted for 50% of Fulham’s scoring in the opening seven matches of the campaign.

Newcastle are led in goals by strikers Callum Wilson and Alexander Isak with two apiece. The pair accounted for half of Newcastle’s goals in the opening seven matches.

Wilson remains a doubt to play due to a thigh injury, and Isak won’t play following a leg injury. He picked up the issue on international duty with Sweden. Meanwhile, goalkeeper Karl Darlow, midfielder Jonjo Shelvey, and defender Emil Krafth are all ruled out with injuries.

Howe’s injury problems continue with Allan Saint-Maximin, Bruno Guimaraes, and Elliott Anderson all possibly missing the game, too.

Silva remains without attacking midfielder Harry Wilson due to a knee injury. Midfielder Joao Palhinha is suspended and Manor Solomon is out for the season with a knee injury. Defender Antonee Robinson could play following an ankle injury.

Fulham are strong at Craven Cottage and should pick up a draw at home versus Newcastle. Howe’s side is struggling with injuries and cannot turn draws into wins. Fulham and Newcastle should see under 2.5 goals.
