Las Palmas to edge the points in top 3 clash against Granada
7281

Sunday evening brings us action from the Spanish second tier and features this upcoming top three encounter between 2nd placed Las Palmas and their 3rd placed visitors, Granada, when the two teams face off at the Estadio de Gran Canaria with a precious three points at stake for both sides.

After suffering a couple of losses in quick succession at the end of last season’s La Liga 2 campaign, with defeats at the hands of Tenerife (home and away), Sunday’s hosts, Las Palmas, have made a solid start to this new term.

They’ve put together a an impressive six-match unbeaten run in the Spanish second tier which consists of wins against Malaga, FC Andorra and Leganes, along with picking up points in draws with Real Zaragoza, Alaves and Racing Santander.

The hosts still remain unbeaten after their opening six games of the new season and these results have helped the hosts into 2nd place, while overall results have been very encouraging for Las Palmas.

They’ve lost just two of their last 19 matches overall in the domestic second tier.

Granada sit in 3rd place and the visitors are level on 12 points apiece with their upcoming hosts for Sunday’s clash although they have already suffered two defeats in this new La Liga 2 campaign.

Victories over Ibiza, Racing Santander, Villarreal B and Mirandes have been offset by losses incurred against FC Andorra and Eibar.

Although the bigger picture shows Granada also bring an impressive run of results into this Sunday’s top three encounter as the visitors have lost just two of their last 14 matches overall.

However, results away from home have not been so convincing as Granada have managed to secure just three victories out of their last 10 outings on the road which came in the form of wins at Lugo, Albacete and Ibiza but they’ve also slipped to four defeats within this period as well.

In addition, Granada have failed to score in four of these last 10 away games and this may prove to be the determining factor in this vital clash that concerns both sides at the top of the table this Sunday.

Las Palmas are unbeaten in each of their last four meetings at home against Granada and the hosts should come out on top with a narrow win on Sunday
