Torino and Sassuolo locked in stalemate

Saturday evening features this upcoming clash between Torino and Sassuolo in the Italian top flight when the two teams meet at the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino with both teams keen to produce positive responses following defeats last time out in Serie A.

Torino lost 1-0 away from home at Inter Milan which was half expected.

But the hosts will be keen to return to the sort of form which has seen them gain victories over Monza, Cremonese and Lecce so far in this season’s new campaign.

Saturday’s hosts have also been dealt a 3-1 loss to Atalanta but that was away from home as was the aforementioned defeat to Inter Milan, while results on home soil at their Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino have also been tentative to say the least.

Torino have managed to chalk up just two wins out of their previous 10 home games which were against Spezia and Lecce but they’ve also lost four other matches, making this upcoming clash against Sassuolo a tough fixture to predict.

The previous nine meetings have resulted in just a single goal margin for a winner, if indeed there has been one, with a few encounters ending in stalemate.

Defender, Zima, along with midfielders, Ricci and Miranchuk, missed the last game and look set to miss this clash with Sassuolo also.

Sassuolo have produced a similar string of results to those of their hosts, Torino.

The visitors have managed to collect just two wins out of their last 12 matches overall in the Italian top flight, coming in the form of victories over Bologna and Lecce.

However, the away side have also slipped to six defeats as well in the process, so they too look unconvincing in terms of recording a straight win on Saturday night at the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino.

In addition, Sassuolo have registered just the solitary win on the road at Bologna towards the end of last season in their last eight outings on their travels, a sequence of results that also include three draws and four defeats.

Of the losses though, only two of their last 10 away games have seen Sassuolo lose by a 2-goal margin or greater, and this gives them a fighting chance of perhaps picking up a point on Saturday.

Sassuolo will be without injured forward, Defrel, while defender Muldur, midfielder Traore and forward Berardi are all doubts.

Torino and Sassuolo may well cancel each other out in a draw on Saturday.
