Rangers and Napoli to produce goals

This week will see the Matchday 2 fixtures being played in the Champions League and Wednesday evening features this upcoming clash in Group A between Rangers and Napoli with the hosts looking to make amends for their opening landslide defeat, while Napoli will be looking to build upon their Matchday 1 win last week.
Rangers suffered a second heavy 4-0 defeat in last week’s opening Matchday 1 fixture away from home at Ajax which followed on from their previous game in the Scottish top flight which saw Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side handed a 4-0 loss in the Old Firm derby against old rivals Celtic.
Rangers now return to the more familiar surroundings of Ibrox for this important Matchday 2 clash against Italian side, Napoli, looking to rekindle the sort of form which saw ‘Gers put together a solid looking eight-match unbeaten run in their preceding matches.
Six wins within these eight games should still give Rangers plenty of belief that they can go out and get a result of some sort on home soil which included a Champions League win over Union St Gilloise and holding PSV to a 2-2 draw.
Napoli will be looking to make it four wins on the trot in all competitions on Wednesday night when they make their way to Ibrox.
They also seek to build upon last week’s excellent 4-1 thrashing of Liverpool at home on Matchday 1.
That emphatic result has helped lift Napoli into the top two of Group A along with Ajax and having also recorded domestic wins in Serie A against Lazio and Spezia either side of that win against Liverpool, Napoli will be eyeing off another important three points in Glasgow on Wednesday night.
The bigger picture shows Napoli are unbeaten in their last 17 matches across all competitions while also losing just once in their previous nine ties in the Champions League as well.
So the visitors look well placed for further success at Ibrox as well.
However, Napoli’s results away from home at this level haven’t exactly been convincing as the Italian outfit have managed to win just one of their last 10 ties on the road which was a 3-2 win at Salzburg but they’ve also slipped to five defeats and drawn the other four games.
To sum up, Rangers need a win here or at least a result of some sort while Napoli haven’t been great travellers at this level - goals look to be on the cards here.
