On Thursday night, Nantes and Olympiakos go head-to-head at the Stade de la Beaujoire in Group G of the Europa League, as both teams look to kick off their European campaign in a winning fashion.

Nantes

Antoine Kombouare’s team’s form has been poor this season, as they have won just one of their seven games in the current campaign. Last time out, Nantes suffered a 3-0 home defeat in Ligue One against reigning French champions PSG.

Nantes have struggled defensively this season, as they have kept just one clean sheet in their seven competitive games this season.

The French side's experience of the Europa League is limited, as they have only featured in the competition once in their history, back in season 2000/01.

Nantes did have a respectable record in that one campaign in the Europa League, though, winning seven of their eight matches, only to exit at the fourth-round stage to Porto.

Olympiakos

The Greek side head into this game in slightly better form than their hosts, as they are currently unbeaten in seven competitive games. Last time out, they defeated Ionikos 3-1 in the Super League.

The match broke a low-scoring trend for the visitors, as their previous four games had all produced under 2.5 goals.

Olympiakos kicked off this season in the Champions League but suffered a second qualifying round defeat to Maccabi Haifa.

They have since eliminated Slovan Bratislava and Apollon from the Europa League. However, Carlos Corberan’s team needed penalty kicks to beat both teams.

Olympiakos have struggled for away wins in the Europa League of late, as they have won just one of their previous five matches on their travels.
