Lyon to continue undefeated Ligue 1 start versus Angers

Lyon have started the new Premier League season in fine form with four matches without a defeat. Peter Bosz’s team has a game in hand over their rivals in the top portion of the table and could put together a title fight in 2022-23.
Up next for Lyon are strugglers Angers. The Black and White are 19th in the division after five games. Angers are one of three Ligue 1 teams without a win.
Ligue 1 will reduce its number of teams from 20 to 18 at the end of this season. Four teams will be relegated at the end of the term. Angers are currently three points adrift of Monaco in 16th place.
Lyon have a brilliant head-to-head record against Angers in their last six matches. Les Gones have a record of 5W-0D-1L versus Angers. The Black and White did claim a home win against Lyon last season, but a win for Angers is an exception rather than the norm.

Angers lost 4-2 to Reims at home in a six-point affair. The loss was Angers’ third in a row in Ligue 1. Things are not going well for the club this season.
Manager Gerald Baticle is on the hotseat at Angers. He has been in the job since May 2021 and has a contract until 2025. The club may not sack him as yet due to the length of the contract.
Sofiane Boufal leads Angers in goals with two this season. Fellow forward Lois Diony has bagged two goals.
Baticle has one player on the Angers injury list for the game. Midfielder Ulrick Eneme-Ella is ruled out until later this month with a knee problem.
Bosz has four players in the treatment room at Lyon. Midfielder Houssem Aouar is a doubt with an ankle injury. Julian Pollersbeck is a doubt as is centre-back Jerome Boateng. Defender Sinaly Diomande could miss due to a muscle problem.
Tete is in great form for Lyon with four goals in four games. He bagged his fourth in midweek versus Auxerre. Alexandre Lacazette has scored twice.
Lyon should post another win and possibly move to the top of the table. They will need results to go their way elsewhere, however. Lyon should post a 2-1 win.
