Celta Vigo to claim three massive points versus Cadiz

Celta Vigo and Cadiz will kick off the La Liga weekend on Friday night with an important clash at the Estadio de Balaidos.

The Sky Blues are 12th in the La Liga standings ahead of the weekend visit from Cadiz. Eduardo Coudet’s team is unbeaten in two of three league games and coming off of a 1-0 win away to Girona.

Cadiz have had a horrible start to the new season. The Yellow Submarine have zero points from nine points available in La Liga. Cadiz are the only team in La Liga not to have a point after three games.

Manager Sergio Gonzalez has watched his team fail to score a goal this season. Just like Cadiz’s zero points, they have failed to score in three matches this season.

Celta Vigo will be licking their lips awaiting the arrival of Cadiz. The Sky Blues haven’t been proficient in front of goal either. Four goals have been tallied in three games with six conceded.

Coudet will hope the Sky Blues can continue their decent head-to-head record against Cadiz. Celta Vigo have a record of 3W-2D-1L against Cadiz in the teams’ last six matches.

Cadiz did go to Balaidos and win 2-1 last season. The reverse fixture ended nil-nil. Cadiz’s form has been so poor that a point at Balaidos will be difficult to come by.

Coudet has two players on the injury list heading into the match on Friday night. Summer signing Goncalo Pacienca is a doubt due to a head injury. Midfielder Renato Tapia is likely to miss the game following a shin injury.

For Gonzalez, defender Carcelen Valencia is a doubt due to physical discomfort. He could be a matchday decision. Jon Ander Garrido has a knee issue and will most likely sit out until the middle of September.

Striker Iago Aspas has scored three of Celta Vigo’s four goals this season. The Sky Blues have been dependent on the ex-Liverpool man for much of his time in Vigo. Coudet needs the team to spread the goals.

Coudet will likely use a 4-1-3-2 formation with Aspas and summer signing Carles Perez leading the line. For Cadiz, Gonzalez should use a 4-4-2 formation with Choco Lozano and Alvaro Negredo in the attack.

Cadiz’s scoreless streak should continue as Celta Vigo throw a shutout at home. This match could see over 1.5 goals as Celta Vigo post a win. Aspas’ could get on the scoresheet once more and add to the three he has already.
