On Tuesday, Serbian side Red Star Belgrade will be aiming to overturn a 3-2 deficit when they host Israeli side Maccabi Haifa for the second leg of their UEFA Champions League play-off.

The first leg was relatively even, with Maccabi Haifa (52% possession) racking up 16 shots and Red Star Belgrade (48% possession) registering 12 attempts.

Frantzdy Pierrot bagged a brace for Maccabi Haifa, with Aleksandar Pesic and Guelor Kanga scoring for Red Star. However, Tjaronn Cherry netted the winner for the hosts.

Red Star have made a hugely impressive start to their domestic campaign, kicking off the season with five straight victories in the Serbian SuperLiga.

Remarkably, they have already scored 21 goals in five league outings (4.2 goals per game). At the opposite end of the pitch, they have conceded just once.

Prior to the first leg, the Serbian outfit chalked up seven straight wins across all competitions – notching 28 goals and six clean sheets during that period.

Having enjoyed an eye-catching start to the season, Red Star will be confident of turning the tie around in front of their passionate fans on home soil.

As for Maccabi Haifa, they have already come through two qualifying rounds to reach this stage – seeing off Olympiacos (5-1) and Apollon (4-2).

Thanks to the 3-2 win in the first leg, the Israeli side have scored 12 goals across five Champions League qualifiers this season (2.4 goals per game).

Maccabi Haifa have yet to kick off their domestic campaign, with their opening league clash scheduled for later this month.

It is worth noting that Maccabi Haifa have drawn just one of their previous 12 games across Champions League qualification and the Israeli top tier.

Head-to-head: Red Star Belgrade and Maccabi Haifa played out their first competitive meeting last week, meaning Maccabi Haifa have the upper hand in the H2H.

Team news: Red Star’s danger man is Osman Bukari, who has bagged six goals and three assists in eight games across all competitions this term.

Maccabi Haifa will be without the injured duo of Raz Meir (hip) and Mahmoud Jaber (femor) for the second leg.

Although Maccabi Haifa edged the first leg, Red Star Belgrade are expected to turn the tie around on home soil.

Forebet predicts that Red Star Belgrade will score over 2.5 goals and keep a clean sheet on Tuesday, punching their ticket to the Champions League.
