Arminia Bielefeld’s return to the Bundesliga 2 did not go to plan on matchday No. 2. Bielefeld were beaten 2-1 away by Sandhausen. On matchday No. 2, Arminia Bielefeld host SSV Jahn Regensburg as they seek their first win of the campaign.

Jahn Regensburg started the Bundesliga 2 season in opposite fashion to Arminia Bielefeld. The Red Shorts claimed a 2-0 win against Darmstadt on opening day.

Joshua Mees scored in the first minute of the match to put Jahn Regensburg up 1-0. Andreas Albers added a second goal on 67 minutes to seal the victory for Jahn Regensburg.

The Red Shorts tallied the win despite keeping a mere 40% possession and completing 281 passes.

Arminia Bielefeld have a strong head-to-head record against Jahn Regensburg. Bielefeld have a record of 5W-0D-1L in the last six matches versus Jahn Regensburg in all competitions.

Despite this strong record, Arminia Bielefeld could have a hangover after suffering relegation from the Bundesliga last term.

Uli Forte was hired by Arminia Bielefeld in July and may not have had the time needed to mould the team.

Forte used a 3-1-4-2 formation on opening day. Midfielder Masaya Okugawa scored the team’s only goal of the game.

Okugawa will be in line to start once more. Midfielder Silvan Sidler was sent off in the first half versus Sandhausen and will now miss the match with Jahn Regensburg.

Jahn Regensburg coach Mersad Selimbegovic is in his third campaign with the club. He will likely stick with a similar starting XI from the first week. New signing Dejan Stojanovic will likely start in goal once more after keeping a clean sheet last weekend.

Meeds started on the left wing and scored the opening goal, while Albers played as part of the front two and got Jahn Regensburg’s second score.

Selimbegovic used a 4-4-2 formation on opening day. He has no reason to alter things for the visit to Arminia Bielefeld.

Arminia Bielefeld saw over 2.5 goals in their last seven matches in all competitions against Jahn Regensburg. Sunday’s game should be another high-scoring fixture between the two sides.

Bielefeld are not in good form following their relegation from the Bundesliga last May. Their hangover should continue as Jahn Regensburg claim a 2-1 win away to Arminia Bielefeld to continue their good form to the start of the season.

Alber could get on the scoresheet once more as the centre-forward leads the line. Mees w
