Goals expected when Heidenheim host Braunschweig
3073

The German 2 Bundesliga season started last weekend with Heidenheim grabbing a 1-0 win away from home at Hansa Rostock while newly promoted side, Eintracht Braunschweig, were handed a 2-0 defeat at home by Hamburg on the opening day of the German second tier season.

Heidenheim will now return to their home surroundings of the Voith-Arena where the hosts will be keen to build upon their encouraging start to the new season by picking up all three points against the newcomers, Eintracht Braunschweig, especially after suffering back to back defeats away from home in recent pre-season friendlies.

Saturday’s hosts have performed fairly well on home soil though in the German second tier as they have lost just two of their previous 11 matches at their Voith-Arena.

Тhis came in the shape of defeats to Erzgebirge Aue and Fortuna Dusseldorf but Heidenheim had also posted a total of eight wins within this period as well.

It’s early season though, so perhaps the goals market may be a safer option at this stage, especially as eight of Heidenheim’s last 11 home games have resulted over 2.5 goals.

Eintracht Braunschweig were brought back down to earth following their opening day 2-0 loss at home to Hamburg following the euphoria of last season’s automatic promotion from the German 3.Liga,

And the visitors face another tough assignment in the shape of Heidenheim this Saturday lunchtime.

Braunschweig managed to bounce back into the 2 Bundesliga at the first time of asking last season and they will certainly be keen to improve upon results last time out in the German second tier this time around.

The visitors had registered just one win in their final 10 matches of the season that they were relegated, coming the form of a 4-0 rout of Osnabruck away from home.

But six defeats within this period only confirmed Braunschweig’s demise.

Results away from home were encouraging last season though, despite losing their final away game of the campaign with a 3-2 loss at Meppen.

But Braunschweig had previously put together a six-match unbeaten run beforehand which included four wins, while four of Braunschweig’s last seven away games also saw 3 goals or more scored.

Heidenheim will be keen to make a winning start at home while Braunschweig will want to open their account as soon as possible, therefore goals could feature in this clash.
