Honka Set to Smash Through Lahti in Their Quest to Move Up the Veikkausliiga

FC Honka will meet with FC Lahti at the Tapiolan urheilupuisto this Friday as the home side sit comfortably in third although in the midst of a poor run of form just as the away outfit look to fix their torrid defensive record.

Lahti have struggled since the start of the season, and in truth, the only aspect separating them from being bottom of the table is the even worse form of HIFK.

Lahti have played more games than most in the division, however, and they now trail the top six Championship round places by six points with a game extra played.

It makes this game and the forthcoming fixtures vital for the club, but with a recent 4-0 demolition at the hands of the league leaders, KuPS, there is little hope they're going to be able to get past Honka here.

Teemu Penninkangas and Geoffery Chinedu were both sent off for Lahti in that game too, and they are now both out of this game here.

Ilir Zeneli's side did previously have a two-game winning run to boast of just prior to that 4-0 loss, however, as they edged past Inter Turki in the Veikkausliiga, after defeating JaPS in the Suomen Cup quarter-finals 2-1.

On the other hand - in what all but sums up their season to this point - despite beating Inter Turku not too long ago, they even lost to them 5-1 just three weeks ago.

All of this now makes Lahti the worst defensive side in the league, and they have now let in 29 goals and scored just 14 of their own after 14 games. This brings in a record of three wins, three draws, and eight losses too.

Honka, however, are sitting in third with a game in hand on fourth place, and the top two in the division.

It does still keep them well within the fight for a title race if they can win here and win that game in hand too, as the gap on first-placed KuPS is just nine points right now.

The club are coming off the back of two games without a win. Mariehamn snatched a point off them two weeks ago, just before SJK defeated them 3-2 in a thrilling game away from home for Honka.

Honka are the clear favourties to get all three points here. Forebet predicts them to win and for the game to see over 2.5 goals.
