Brondby to get off to winning start against Aarhus
2036

This weekend sees the start of a new Danish Superliga season and Sunday evening features this upcoming clash between Brondby and Aarhus when they meet at Brøndby Stadion with both teams keen to improve upon last season’s respective campaigns.

Brondby enjoyed a reasonable season but the hosts finished in 3rd spot and found themselves eight points adrift of the eventual Superliga title-winners, Copenhagen.

But nevertheless, Brondby did manage to claim the last European spot at the end of the Championship Round which sees them enter the Europa Conference League at the 2nd qualifying round stage.

For the time being though, Brondby will be focused on making a positive start to this new domestic top flight season and pick up where they left off at the end of the last campaign which saw them post back to back wins against Aalborg and Silkeborg respectively.

Brondby will also be keen to avoid a repeat of their horrific run of defeats previously which resulted in seven losses on the trot which put paid to any title hopes.

But they’re unbeaten in the previous five meetings against Aarhus.

Onto Aarhus then, and AGF will certainly be eager to improve upon last season’s disappointing 8th place finish at the end of the regular Superliga season which wasn’t helped by the fact that the visitors had to endure a winless run of 14 matches towards the latter stages of last term.

The visitors also suffered eight defeats within this poor sequence of results while the bigger picture yielded just a measly one victory from their final 17 games of what was a very mediocre campaign.

Results away from home were also of a similar poor nature as Aarhus managed to record just two victories from their last 17 outings on the road which came in the form of rare wins at Silkeborg and SonderjyskE.

But they also slipped to a total of 10 losses within this period which prevented them from making any sort of impact upon the top eight clubs and a place in the Championship Round.

To make matters worse, Aarhus also failed to score in 10 of these 17 away games and they face another tough assignment straight out of the blocks in this Sunday’s season opener at Brondby whom they look to have their work cut out if they’re to pick up a result here.
