Viking FK to Win on the Road Once More Against the High-Scoring Haugesund

Third from top meets third from bottom when Haugesund welcomes Viking FK to the Haugesund Stadion this Saturday in the Eliteserien as the two sides come into this game with entirely contrasting starts to the Norwegian top flight.

It's been a topsy-turvy season for Viking to this point, and although they are normally competing for a spot inside the top three European spots, they will be hoping to improve on their third-placed finish of last season.

So far, the club have played one more game than those around them, which is alarming considering they already sit four points behind second-placed Molde in the table and six points behind the league leaders, Lillestrom.

Nevertheless, with six wins from 12 games in the Eliteserien, Viking have won 50% of their games to date, have a solid defensive record with only 13 goals conceded, and alongside 22 goals scored, they have comfortably been finding the net too.

On the other hand, Morten Jensen's men have failed to win in their past four games in the Eliteserien.

A draw with Tromso and HamKam would come in towards the end of May, with Stromsgodset and Sandefjord both edging past them in the two recent league fixtures. Jensen’s side have managed to make it to the third round of the Norwegian Cup, however, with two recent victories over Rosseland and Vard.

As for Haugesund, they've been on an unbeaten run recently, which has seen them gradually creep out of the relegation zone. On the other hand, they only managed to register three draws within this time, as Rosenborg, Aalesund, and Tromso all earned points against them.

The club did manage to edge past Fana in the Norwegian Cup, however, which does mean they haven't tasted defeat since a 4-1 thrashing at the hands of Bodo/Glimt back in May.

What's more, for a club fighting relegation, they've managed to put away an impressive 16 goals from 11 games, which is just one goal less than fourth-placed Stromsgodset.

Given Haugesund’s winless run in the Eliteserien, it does seem as if they will lose here once more. Viking have been simply too much better than them to this point in the league, and they should get yet another win on the road under their belt as they are expected to remain in third this weekend.

Forebet predicts a win for Viking and for the game to see over 2.5 goals.
