Greece and Kosovo locked in stalemate

Sunday evening provides us with further action from the Nations League and a League C Group 2 encounter between the group leaders, Greece, and their 2nd placed visitors, Kosovo, in this top of the table clash at the Panthessaliko Stadio (Volos) with a precious three points at stake for both nations.
Greece still possess a 100% winning record in the group and accordingly, sit top as the hosts have produced glimpses of the sort of form that saw them win the European Championship some years ago, having collected wins in this campaign against Northern Ireland, Kosovo (away) and their recent comprehensive 3-0 victory over neighbours, Cyprus.
The bigger picture shows the extent of Greece’s slow but steady return to some semblance of form as the hosts have suffered just four defeats out of their last 22 matches in all competitions, only one of which was dealt out to them on home soil.
Switch to results at home and you’ll find that Greece have lost just once in their last 13 matches which also includes seven wins and five draws - two of which were against Kosovo.
Onto Kosovo then, and they too have produced an encouraging Nations League campaign as they sit in 2nd place and three points behind their hosts, Greece, having collected six points to date thanks to wins against Cyprus and Northern Ireland, whilst their one defeat to date was to Greece.
With three games remaining, Kosovo know that a win or even a draw here may still see them in the frame for possible promotion up to League B and recent results suggest the visitors stand a reasonable chance of securing at least a point here as they’ve lost just once in their last six matches in all competitions.
Following a miserable stretch of results on the road which saw Kosovo fail to win a game between mid-September 2019 through to the end of March last year which spanned a total of nine games, Kosovo have re-discovered their touch as the visitors have lost just once in their subsequent six matches on their travels.
Within this sequence, Kosovo have picked up wins at Malta, Georgia and Cyprus along with drawing away at Greece and Switzerland.
Indeed, the draw may well feature again here as three of the previous four meetings between these two nations have ended in stalemate and Sunday evening may be no exception.
