In the early hours of Friday morning, Argentine giants Boca Juniors host Colombian side Deportivo Cali in the final round of the Copa Libertadores group stage.
As it stands, Deportivo Cali sit top of Group E – level with second-place Corinthians on eight points. Meanwhile, Boca Juniors are in third place on seven points.
With fourth-place Always Ready three points behind Boca, all four teams in Group E can still qualify for the knockout phase on Matchday 6.
It’s fair to say that Boca Juniors have endured an indifferent Copa Libertadores campaign up to now, recording two wins, one draw and two losses.
After losing two of their opening three matches, they beat Always Ready before holding Corinthians to a goalless draw to keep their qualification hopes alive.
Still, it is worth noting that Boca have avoided defeat in each of their previous six Copa Libertadores clashes on home soil.
It is also worth pointing out that Boca head into this clash on a seven-game unbeaten streak in all competitions, having sealed six wins and one draw since their last loss.
When you look at the bigger picture, the Argentine giants have lost just one of their last 13 games across all competitions.
On the flip side, Deportivo Cali have only lost one of their five Libertadores matches this term – securing two wins and two draws in the process.
The Colombians thrashed Always Ready 3-0 last time out, with Jhon Vasquez bagging a brace to seal the deal.
That said, Cali have managed to win one of their last five encounters in all competitions and have also won just two of their previous 12.
Although they find themselves atop Group E, off-form Deportivo Cali look set to struggle against in-form Boca Juniors.
Head-to-head: Boca and Cali have met on three occasions over the year. Both sides have beaten each other once, while the other game ended in a draw.
Cali beat Boca 2-0 in the reverse fixture last month. However, Boca thrashed Cali 6-2 when they met back in 2016.
Team news: Boca Juniors will be without the injured trio of Norberto Briasco, Marcelo Weigandt and Diego Gonzalez for their final group game.
Meanwhile, Cali have no fresh injury concerns. With four goals and five assists to his name this season, Kevin Velasco is their danger man.
With Deportivo Cali in poor form and Boca Juniors enjoying an impressive run at the moment, the hosts are expected to claim all three points.
